Community Connection: FIC’s Home Distributor for Loyola Grand Villas
By Fruits in Ice Cream, September 23, 2020As we navigate these unprecedented times and “new normal” together, we are so grateful to our home distributors for helping FIC continue to bring some delight and joy into your homes, in the form of premium ice cream. But this isn’t strictly business; our network of home distributors are part of the FIC family, and the reason we started this program was not only to find a way to deliver to your doorstep, but to also build relationships within your communities with your neighbors, friends, and fellow ice cream lovers!
We decided to start a spotlight series and speak with some of our home distributors to share a little bit about themselves so you can get to know them better. To kick it off, we’re introducing our first home distributor for this, Juro Ongkiko!
Juro Ongkiko is FIC’s official home distributor for Loyola Grand Villas in Marikina. He attended Xavier School San Juan from grade school to high school, and pursued a Psychology degree at UP Diliman. These days, he works as a freelance photographer and also runs Moreno Morena, an online advocacy platform that showcases appreciation of dark Filipino skin. We’ve asked Juro about his experience as an FIC home distributor, here’s what he had to say:
Can you tell us what led you to join our community of home distributors?
I was looking for something more to do during the lockdown, and thought that selling ice cream would be a good use of my time, especially since I already have some experience in home-based retail.
What’s the best selling flavor in your area?
It’s a tie between Belgian Chocolate and Mixed Berries.
Tell us more about your experience with your customers. What’s that exchange like?
I’d like to think that my relationship with customers is very casual and easy going. I call them Tita or Tito when I message them. I also hope my neighbors get to appreciate the photos I post when I advertise FIC, I tweak them every now and then to show off the different flavors.
Do you have loyal customers? If so, why do you think they love FIC?
I think they keep coming back for more simply because they love their favorite flavors. Of course, trying other flavors is nice when you want something fresh and new, but going back to a flavor you’ve loved since Day 1 comes with a unique comfort that you won’t get with anything else.
What’s your take on ice cream in general?
For me, ice cream is the ultimate treat. As much as I try to savor it as best as I can, I can’t take too long to eat it because it’ll just melt.
For those of you living in the Loyola Grand Villas, you can message Juro at 0905 428 3372 to say hello and have your favorite FIC flavors delivered straight to your doorstep.
