Community Connection: FIC’s Home Distributor for San Juan City

By Fruits in Ice Cream, October 5, 2021

Monchet’s love for entrepreneurship and ice cream led him to be in the business of serving up your favorite ice cream flavors. Life-long marketing and advertising man and home distributor for M. Paterno St., San Juan City, we wanted to know more about Monchet’s experiences. Here’s what he wanted to share:

What urged you to be a distributor for FIC?

Everyone dreams of opening a little business for himself. When a friend from FIC proposed the idea of being a home distributor for their new premium ice-cream products, I grabbed the opportunity knowing the location of my residence was potentially great for such a type of business. Our street, M. Paterno, is a secondary but main artery with a relatively high volume of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Unlike busier traffic roads like Ortigas ave. or EDSA provides everyone the chance to “pull over and stop” anytime.

What’s the best-selling flavor in your area?

We have several best-sellers, but the one that stands out is Avocado. Our Durian also does well because there is a large Muslim community in the area, and they seem to prefer this flavor. Other favorites include Pistachio, Strawberry, and Belgian Chocolate.

What is your relationship with customers like?

Most of our customers are loyal, repeat customers who reside within the vicinity or frequently traverse our street to and from their houses and destinations. Surprisingly, we also have many transient customers who live in different areas of Metro Manila but visit our outlet.

Do you have any loyal customers? If so, why do you think they keep coming back for FIC?

A good, high-quality product is the first major reason. Next is the availability of most of the flavors. And the third is good service. We service our customers even when we are supposed to be already closed for the night, but some wish to be served even at late hours, and we try to comply most of the time to help them satisfy their sudden late-night cravings.

What’s your take on ice cream in general? What does it mean to you?

Ice cream is a fun, feel-good treat that appeals to everyone–young and old alike, male or female, kids, teens, young adults, middle-aged, and even seniors. It’s a delicious frozen treat that, to me, is one of life’s greatest day-to-day pleasures!
